Cold weather, crop planning, and farm projects - Blog 3

Hello everyone! Welcome to 2018, it's great to be back on here giving another farm update. I'll start with the obvious. IT IS COLD! Very bitterly cold so far we have had two nights where it got down to -15F. Thankfully we do not grow year round at this point so there were no crops to worry about. The chickens seem to be tolerating it alright, they stay in the coop during the extreme cold but are given treats to keep them entertained. Our other livestock, the bees, also appear to be doing fine. During a warm up earlier this week i was able to check the hives and all of them are surviving and healthy as far as I can tell.

Despite the cold many projects have been getting accomplished. The largest of which is a new processing shed. This is very important both for those of us at the farm but also for you as the customer. From our standpoint this will greatly improve efficiency allowing us to provide more products to all of your. It will also ensure the safest and most sanitary product possible as our packing and washing will be indoors in a shed which by the end of this season will be able to have all surfaces easily sanitized.

Other projects that have been happening have included crop planning, seed ordering, marketing, and learning a new farm planning software we are implementing this year. Below you will see a few photo's of the projects described above, if you have any questions or comments please leave them below we love to hear from all of you and will talk to you again next week.
